Breakfast in the Netherlands
Whenever visiting a place one of the most critical pieces of information you should be aware of is what they eat. That’s important because you don’t want to go on a vacation and starve! The first meal we will look at is breakfast.
A typical Dutch breakfast includes ham, cheese, and sometimes jam for breakfast. Cereals are also pretty popular as a go-to morning meal. Depending on where you stay, most times, breakfast is included in your plan.
Lunch in the Netherlands
One of the most popular lunches in the Netherlands is a brown bread and cheese sandwich called a bruine boterham met kaas. Some Dutch enjoy it with buttermilk. They also tend to have fruit.
If this is too light for you then you might want to try the meatball on a soft white bun or even a sausage roll. They also enjoy hard-boiled eggs or soups and salad. After a hearty meal be sure to go and check out the palaces of the Netherlands Royal Family
Dinner in the Netherlands
Dinner is served early around 5 pm and is centred around meat and vegetables. They also enjoy pea-based soups like lentil soup. Most times dinner ends with a nice dessert like yoghurt of fruit.
Snacks in the Netherlands
There are also many snacks to be enjoyed while on your trip. Be sure to try Flemish which are chips sprinkled with salt and generously smothered with mayonnaise. You can also try their curry which is unique and for the meat lover be sure to check out the kroketten which is spiced minced meat that is deep-fried in bread crumbs.
